6/7 Sunday Come and Welcome the Stuttgart Delegation of Councillors and Friends of Cardiff at the Pen and Wig Pub anytime after 6.30 pm.

8/7 The Lord Mayors of Cardiff and Stuttgart with Beverley Watson invite us to a Tree Planting ceremony to celebrate 70 years of Cardiff Stuttgart Twinning at the Stuttgart Garden near the Bute Park Visitor Centre at 1.30 pm.

23/7 We will be holding our AGM at 7 pm at the Friends Meeting House , Charles st; Cardiff – PLEASE ATTEND and share your reflections, ideas for the future and willingness to take on any commitment in support of CSA and building on the twinning energy of this year! WE NEED YOU!

In this captivating historical drama, we spend intimate time with Hilde Coppi, a heroine of the anti-Nazi resistance in Berlin. In 1942, whilst heavily pregnant, Hilde is detained by the Gestapo, accused of transcribing coded transmissions from Moscow as part of the Red Orchestra activist group. As Hilde awaits her fate, she looks back at her joyful romance with Hans and the discovery of the hopeful activism movement in what becomes the most beautiful summer of her life whilst the world is screaming for peace. With an extraordinary performance from Liv Lisa Fries (Babylon Berlin) and evocatively filmed, this is an affecting portrait of love at a time of desperate danger and oppression.

Sarah is a Cardiff based soprano who completed her MA under Dennis O’Neill at WIAV. Before this she completed a Vocal Performance postgraduate at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Sarah has performed in many works throughout her career including Longborough Festival Opera’s Der Fliegende Holländer and Brahms Requiem in Holy Trinity Church, Stratford Upon Avon. Meryn is from Pontyclun and was educated at Bryn Celynog Comprehensive School. She studied Music at University College Cardiff where she was awarded a Bachelor of Music Degree with Honours. After leaving full time education Meryn embarked on a career as a freelance Musical Director, Accompanist and Pianist.

Meryn has enjoyed a varied career, working as an accompanist at the Royal Academy of Dance, as well as working freelance with the ABC of Opera and directing the Sovereign Singers Chamber Choir/Bois y Bathdy. She is the Musical Director of Cor Y Bryn Ladies Choir based in Llantrisant.

Meryn enjoys all types of music making and in addition to the above also finds time to accompany instrumentalists and vocalists.

On 28th May 2025 at 7 pm we welcome Adam Peace Lossl. He will talk (in German) about International Encounters in community projects- Internationale Begegnung in Gemeinschaftsdiensten (IBG)

Nachdem Adam Peace Lossl ein Jahr lang in Stuttgart bei Internationale Begegnung in Gemeinschaftsdiensten (IBG) gearbeitet hatte, leitete er seitdem soziale Projekte mit internationalen Freiwilligen in ganz Baden-Württemberg. Kommen Sie vorbei und erfahren Sie alles darüber!

Having spent a year working in Stuttgart with Internationale Begegnung in Gemeinschaftsdiensten (IBG), Adam has since been leading social projects with international volunteers across Baden-Württemberg. Come along and hear all about it !

Stuttgarter Delegation besucht Cardiff vom 6-9.Juli 2025 zum Feiern des 70 jährigen Jubiläums der Städte- Partnerschaft

Wir freuen uns auf den Besuch und hoffen auf viele Begegnungen.

Wir starten mit einem Bier im Pub am Sonntag Abend. Am Dienstag wird eine Baum- Einpflanzung im Stuttgarter Garten von der Stadt Cardiff aus organisiert und wir hoffen auf gutes Wetter- 13 Uhr Beginn.

25 Jahre Honorarkonsulin für Deutschland in Wales – ein kleiner Rückblick und Gedanken zur Relevanz der Honorarkonsulen/innen jetzt und in der Zukunft 30-04-25

Helga Rother-Simmonds will look back over her 25 year long post as Honorary Consul in Wales for Germany and how relevant this post may be for the future.

Please join us for this special evening on Wednesday 30th April at the Friends Meeting House, Charles st, Cardiff near M&S. Time 7 pm-9pm

CANCELLED: Tenby/Saundersfoot 16-18th May

We will be arriving Friday evening and meeting up in Tenby.

On Saturday we explore the coast by slow accessible walks at Saundersfoot and on Sunday morning the coastal path around Tenby harbour and St Catherine’s Island.

Please make your own travel and accommodation arrangements.

Please note that you attend at your own risk and that all costs are self- funded.

Suitable scooters can be hired at £12/day from Cantra Centre Carmarthen.

We are meeting with her this Friday 21/3 at 8 pm in Chapter, Canton, Cardiff

Hugh M is taking us on a Get to Know Cardiff Cycle Tour on Tuesday 25/3 at 11 am- please register interest with gabriela.todd@yahoo.co .uk if you wish to join as a cyclist- at your own risk!

At our next CSA meeting on Wednesday 26th March 7 pm (see previous post) Luisa will introduce herself (in German) and what her plans are before we enjoy the evening presentation by Dr Christopher Laucht (in German) on his research on the partnership between Coventry and Kiel emerging immediately after WW2.
